Draft Guide

A great league has to have good rules in place that take into account the variations that occur during a normal Fantasy League Year. Here is a rule system that we have devised over the last 10 years of our league.

Season Dues - $_____________  ( One-time )
 
A one-time season entrance fee of $_________ is required of all team owners. This fee covers the cost of Software, Statistical Updates, Voice Mail Phone, Copies, Printing, & other expenses.
 
Money Pools
Each of the owners contributes $10 per week to money pools. Over half of this $10 is paid back weekly to the top 3 teams with the highest points totals. The remainder of the money is put into larger pools which are awarded at the end of the football season.

The Draft
The draft is probably the single MOST important event of the entire Fantasy Football year. This is when all the team owners gather together to draft their FFL team(s). Your attendance at this draft is mandatory (unless there is death in the family or other natural disaster).

This event will take between 2 and 3 hours, please have your lists ready, it will make the entire process more enjoyable. Please bring a checklist of teams, we keep track of drafted players amongst ourselves.

Draft Order
Draft Order is determined by a random drawing. This random drawing will also determine where your leage is situated in the divisional set-up. Below is an example of how the draft works. We go from low to high, then high to low, low to high, etc. Etc. Until all team rosters are filled.

Here is the breakdown of the fantasy team structure for our league. The maximum position is only for use when a player is on Inactive Reserve. You can never have any more than the drafted number on your Active Roster.

Starting Lineups

Starting weekly line-ups MUST be received no later than the kickoff of the first NFL game of the next week. Failure to submit a lineup by this time will result in your starting team being the same as it was last week.

PLEASE HAVE YOUR LINEUPS IN ON TIME, THEIR ARE NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

The Starting Weekly lineup is as follows :

1 Quarterback
2 Running Backs
3 Wide Receivers
1 Tight-End
1 Defensive Team
1 Kicker
1 Head Coach

How to Turn In Your Weekly Lineup:

  1. Electronic Mail (_______________)– This is the best for us.
  2. Call our Fantasy Voice Mail (_______________)– This is OK too.
  3. Drop lineup at ______________________________________
  4. Phone commissioners home phone.
  5. Certified or Registered Mail.
  6. A very smart pigeon.

Player Drafting Information

In order to keep the game fair and give ALL team owners equal opportunity at available players, we use the following rules for drafting players.

OPEN DRAFT: Wed (6:00PM) until start of the first game of next week.
During this time ANY available non-drafted player can be added to your roster. Of course your active roster can never exceed the limits outline in the Fantasy Football Teams Section. The OPEN DRAFT is on a first come first serve basis.

CLOSED DRAFT: From Start of first game until Wednesday at 6:00PM
During this time NO players can be immediately acquired. This eliminates the unfair possibility of a commissioner or friend of the commissioner from grabbing players during game time while others would not have the same opportunity. You CAN however notify the commissioner before Wed at 6:00PM and "Lay Claim" to an available player. At 6:00PM on Wednesday, either a random drawing is held or if no other team owner wants the player(s) it becomes yours is added to your roster.

DRAFT NOTE: Remember to let us know which player(s) you wish to drop or move to inactive roster if you win the draw.

Adding Non-Drafted Players to your Roster
There is a $___ fee for adding players to your roster. This fee goes to a year-end pool that is divided by the two teams with the highest year-end points total. Their is no limit to the number of players you can add or drop during the season EXCEPT for the last 4 weeks of the season, during which time, NO traders or roster additions are allowed.

Rosters can never exceed the limits established in the Fantasy Teams section. Players can be added to your Inactive Reserve (if applicable) or your regular roster (as long as you have an opening or you can drop a player of the same position to make room).

You must notify the commissioner of your changes for them to be final. This can be accomplished by either phoning in your draft changes to the voice mail center (preferred method), by including them with your starting lineups, or by calling one of the commissioners directly. If it is a real hot player, you should contact the voice mail center. It is available 24 hrs a day and time stamps each incoming message.

Dropping Players from Your Roster
Players can be dropped from your team at any time. Dropped players ARE NOT immediately available for draft by another team. A list of all dropped players is included in each WWVFFL weekly report. A dropped player is not available for open draft until all teams have been notified of this available player.

A dropped player IS NOT available for OPEN DRAFT until kickoff of the first game of the next week. This gives all team owners an opportunity to see which players are available. You may "Lay Claim" to these players and if no one else does the same then they become yours at the kickoff of the first game of the next week.

Please Note: It is assumed that a team owner will retrieve his/her report and review it BEFORE the first NFL game of the next week.


Making Trades

Trades between team owners can be made anytime except the last four weeks of the season. There is no fee for trading, and their is no limit to the number of trades that a team owner can make in a season.

Keep in mind that if you are trading two unlike positions that you can never exceed the player limits. Often times a player must be dropped or two players must be traded in order to keep with the Fantasy Team Roster limits.


Inactive Reserve (IR)

Up to 2 players can be placed on your Inactive Reserve roster, regardless of their actual health. Placing players on Inactive Reserve will allow you to keep them and free up your active roster for additional players. You can swap players from reserve to active without any penalties or fees. These changes must be made prior to the kickoff of the first game of the next week.

Points scored by players on your Inactive Reserve are not added to your Weekly or Season points totals. You cannot have two players of the same position of the Inactive Reserve.
Players can be directly drafted to the Inactive Reserve as long as you have an opening and no other players of the same position are there already. All other rules to drafting players apply when adding directly to your Inactive Reserve.


Divisonal League Setup

The league is separated into two separate divisions; Eastern and Western.
Each division consists of 5 teams. Placement into these divisions is randomly determined during the draft.

Our FFL season consists of 13 regular season weeks, 2 weeks of playoffs and our Superbowl. The top 4 teams of each division will go to the playoffs. Your team will play each of your divisional teams twice during the season and your non-divisional teams once.


Scoring System

General Scoring Rules – Applies to all positions
  • TD’s are worth 6 points.
  • 2 pt plays are worth 2 pts. to each of the 2 players involved.
  • 10 yds of forward progress is worth 1 pt (except QB = 1 pt per 20yds)
  • TD Bonuses are worth 2 pts ( QB rush for TD, RB pass for TD, etc)
  • Attempt Bonus is worth 1 pt for the first attempt only (Rush, Pass, Rcv)
  • Turnovers (Fumbles or Interceptions Lost) : LOST= -2

Defensive Team Specific Scoring

  • Safety is worth 4 points to DT.
  • Sack is worth 1 point.
  • Kickoff return yardage is worth 1 pt per 20yds
  • Punt return yardage is worth 1 pt per 20yds
  • Touchdowns are worth 6 points.
  • Fumble recoveries are worth 2 points
  • Interceptions are worth 2 points.

Kicker Specific Scoring

  • All general scoring rules are in effect.
  • Field Goals ( 1-39yds=3pt | 40-49yd=4pt | 50+=5pts )
  • Extra Points are worth 1 point.
